
There is free transport to work sites on a Wednesday. The pick up point is from in front of the waiting room at Babraham Park and Ride off Babraham Road (A1307) at 9:30am. We aim to drop volunteers off again at 4:00pm. This programme will change every three months so please do check it regularly. Activity: Floral Foray. We shall start off at Haslingfield Pit for the annual count of Man Orchid, hopefully this year we will break through the 100 barrier for the first time ever! We shall then visit other sites where the group has worked over the previous winter to see the fruits of our effort.

Activity: Small Blue Butterfly Search. We shall be visiting two sites to search for this very elusive and declining species. Hopefully the work undertaken at these sites by the group over the winter will help this and many other species.

Activity: National Insect Day. On this day we shall be combining with James Fisher of the Devils Dyke Project to look at insects on both Devils Dyke and Fleam Dyke.

Activity: We shall be helping members of the parish in controlling the very invasive Himalayan Balsam along the River Granta. This species is covering large areas of riverside habitat at the expense of many other species.

Activity: White-letter Hairstreak Butterfly search. This butterfly is only found on elm, a species that has suffered from the Dutch Elm Disease outbreak in the 70's. The butterfly is elusive, staying at the tops of the branches for a lot of the time. However, working with Butterfly Conservation we shall be visiting sites that are known to hold populations and then looking for new populations in other areas.
